This website uses Google Ads, including conversion tracking tags and remarketing/retargeting pixels. These tools place cookies and similar identifiers in your browser so that we can:

  • measure which ads and pages lead to actions such as booking a session or joining the community (conversion tracking); and
  • show you relevant ads on Google and partner websites and apps after you have visited this site (remarketing).

We use this data to understand and improve ad performance and to reach people who have already visited the site. We do not use it to determine your identity, and we do not sell it. Life-story and personal-history project materials

If you work with me on a life-story or personal-history project (see /life-story), you may share recordings, transcripts, manuscripts, photographs, letters, journals, family information, and other project files. Here is how I handle that material in plain English:

  • Use. Project materials are used only to plan and produce the work you approve — for example interviewing, transcription, organizing, editing, formatting, and preparing the deliverables we agree on.
  • Third-party processing. Producing your project may involve third-party services such as scheduling and payment providers, AI transcription and editing tools, printing, publishing, and hosting platforms. I will tell you what major third-party tools will process your material, and for especially sensitive projects we can agree on the privacy workflow before any files are transferred. I do not claim your material is excluded from any vendor’s data practices unless that setting has actually been verified for your project.
  • Publication. Nothing from your project is made public without your approval.
  • Retention and deletion. Working files may be retained while a project is active and for a reasonable period afterward so revisions remain possible. You can ask me to delete project materials, and I will do so where practical; retention of raw recordings and final files can also be addressed in your written project scope.
  • Security limits. I take reasonable care with your material, but no storage or transfer method can be guaranteed absolutely secure.

Advertising treatment of the /life-story page

Because the /life-story page discusses family relationships and personal memories, visits to that page are not used to build remarketing, retargeting, or other personalized advertising audiences. Conversion measurement may still apply under the practices described above.
